Q: What can I expect from a ReneeMatthewsPhotography photo session?
A phone or in person consultation to help me understand YOUR expectations. Sessions last typically between 1-2 hours. I don't have rules or expectations; I want you, your children, your family to have fun. Run around, laugh and play, whatever makes them happy. I feel that the relaxed approach will help to capture personalities, which always makes for a better photograph than a posed "say cheese" picture. I may do a few posed shots, but I prefer to watch and interact and capture those moments that you will want to hold on to forever.

Q: What time of day do you typically have your sessions?
I feel natural light makes for the best photograph, and for indoor natural light portraits, early morning to mid-afternoon is best. For children, choosing a time of day when your children are well rested and at their peak is of the utmost importance. Better to schedule the session when everyone is at their happiest time of day even if it means less than ideal lighting conditions!

Q: How many people can we include in our photo session?
The session fee is good for one family (up to 8 members). An additional fee may apply for extended family or friends.

Q: What to wear for a photo session?
We suggest keeping it simple. Blue jeans and bare feet look great on kids of all ages. Children under the age of one can be photographed in the bare skin. Most of all, dress comfortably.

Q: Where will the session be?
Children are generally more at ease in an environment with which they are familiar, so ultimately this is up to you. Your home, a studio or an outdoor location such as your favorite park or forest preserve. Keep in mind that if we schedule an outdoor shoot and weather does not cooperate we may have to reschedule.

Q: When should I book my Maternity/Newborn session?
I recommend scheduling your maternity session any time after 32 weeks. Newborns are best to photograph during the first three weeks of life. But the earlier the better, because they change so quickly.

Q: How soon can I see and purchase my images?
Give me a week at the most. I will typically have your images ready in much less time but I will call, text or email you when they are ready. As for purchasing your images, that can be done right from the site. You will receive your very own private viewing gallery that can be password protected. You can share this with friends and family to show off your pictures. You will just click on the picture you want and add it to your cart. From there you can choose the size and style of print you want.
